Here you will find excerpts of a video art project I began in Dan Shellenbarger’s Video Art course during Autumn Quarter 2010. It is a work in progress that I intend to complete and show in Spring 2010. My intention is to showcase the dynamic range I experience in my colleagues here at OSU.
Working title: The Tenacious Ten, Everyday Superheroes

Maree,
Wow…you’ve done a lot of work. My impressions – the framing of your shots is intriguing; it makes me think of the perceptions of others and sometimes the altered or skewed understanding we have of them as well as the beauty and fascination of showing the individual from very different sides. You’ve made the ordinary individual very extradinary through your framing, hence the “everyday hero”. I love Maungsai’s and Teoma’s sections – Maungsai’s was SO him. The way that you combined his multiple characters through multiple screens was great. It gave a very complete concept and picture of him in a few short frames. Teoma’s framing and angles were very interesting to watch. I was wondering how the editing for Betsy’s could even be quirky or how Mara’s could section could include text or writing. I love Courtney’s character…I want to see more of it, almost to an extreme exaggeration and indulgence of her character.
Love the Christmas decorations. Such interesting props and used in a variety of ways…it brings a through line to the various characters and also shows how differently each person plays with them which again supports your ideas about how your OSU experience has been shaped by very different people.
I can’t wait to see more. – KJ POWERHOUSE
